HYPNOTHERAPY & DEPRESSION TREATMENT

Alchemical hypnotherapy can be a very effective treatment for many types of depression, unless a person has other complicating mental illnesses or symptoms such a psychosis or schizophrenia. Anti-depressants usually do not affect the quality of hypnotherapy, unless the client is taking a drug or dosage that is heavily sedating, like lithium. As alchemists, it is not our job to dissuade our clients from the use of medically prescribed drugs of any kind, including anti-depressants. However, if your client decides as a result of therapy with you, that their depression is “cured”, encourage them to consult with their physician about the appropriateness of their withdrawal from these drugs, and the procedures to be followed.

My own experience and research with clients indicates that depression is often the result of lack of intimacy, and lacking the experience of being loved. For this reason, clients who respond well to inner family work often show remarkable recovery from depression. Hypnotherapy is seldom effective with clients who are unwilling to explore their deep emotions or is unwilling to accept the support of an inner family.
